Portrait of Utibeabasi Akaninyene

Utee (Utibeabasi Akaninyene)

Name's Utee (Utibeabasi Akaninyene), a systems architect and engineer with 6 years of professional experience designing and building high-throughput, fault-tolerant systems across FinTech, logistics, DeFi, and developer tools.

I happen to have created DolphJS, a server-side TypeScript framework for high-performance backends.

I'm currently working on something ambitious: slang, a statically typed language for network and server-side programming. It compiles straight to C, interops cleanly with existing C libraries, and runs concurrency as M:N green tasks — built for backends that can't afford a thread per connection.

I'm also the CEO & Founder of Dolphlabs (Dolph Tech Limited).

Through Dolph Tech, I build products at the intersection of finance and blockchain — including Mirai Trade, an on-chain perpetuals exchange, alongside open-source developer tooling.

We build enterprise-scale applications for startups and established companies. Whether creating a product from scratch, modernising existing software, or adding new features, we deliver end-to-end development tailored to your business.

Currently, I'm the Systems Architect & Technical Lead at Xavier Paisley Limited.

I designed the event-driven architecture for TLB, a cross-currency real estate banking platform with real-time currency conversion and end-to-end audit logging. I also design and maintain other XP products.

I built Parcel, a last-mile delivery service in Lokoja — a city that had none.

We ran for eight months before shutting down. Along the way we figured out how to route deliveries despite Lokoja's messy, informal address system — one of the harder problems in last-mile logistics outside major cities.

Previously, I built compliance engines, AI pipelines, and payment infrastructure.

At Omits Financial & Technology, I engineered the core regulatory compliance engine for a cross-border payment platform — modelling KYC/AML rule evaluation as an auditable, event-sourced pipeline. At Bento Africa, I was a core member of the team building the Ada AI project.

Keynote at GopherCon Africa 2025 on the Go runtime: M:P:G scheduler, tri-colour mark-and-sweep GC, and interface dispatch overhead — including a live-coded toy scheduler demonstrating goroutine multiplexing.

Launched the first public version of DolphJS at GenZ HackFest 2024 as a framework creator and presenter — a presentation widely regarded as a key highlight of the event.

Panel speaker at the GDSC FULOKOJA 2024 onboarding event, leading discussions on overcoming student struggles in tech, balancing academics with a tech career, and pathways into the industry — helping onboard 30+ new members.

Regular Twitter Spaces speaker since 2022 on backend development and system design, including a featured mentorship session for the Interswitch Developers Community (University of Uyo) on getting started with public speaking in technology.

Technical Lead of GDSC FULOKOJA (2024): onboarded 200+ members and guided students through Google Crowdsource AI/ML contributions.
